Storm Rolling In Fast!

I set up to paint the dock across the creek in low tide with the water coming into the marsh area. There were some dark clouds building fast and before I knew it, there was lightening and the scene changed from this to a complete wash out. Couldn't even see the dock! Then it stopped and was beautiful again but the creek had come into the marsh already. So I stuck to my original plan of painting the dark clouds and reflecting into the mud.

Then I painted a second one. (I think I'm avoiding getting back to my large boats in the Charleston harbor painting). Just across and around the creek from us is this adorable Airstream trailer. Do you still have one of these? Every time we go by in the boat, I take a photo and say I'm going to paint it. So yesterday, I took the photo and here it is! Just adorable. I may need one of these!

Charles and Spice

Charles and Spice
NOT quite the same as Sugar and Spice, but close.... just saying!

While visiting in Asheville last week with my sis and hubby,
we rode horsies, hiked ..... had a great time.
I took my paints in anticipation of some paint time though I never have time!
This time, we pulled the paints out, my sis worked on reviving
an old one of hers and I did this from a photo she took a day before.
I tried to capture him on the horse in the woods without detailing the
trees and leaves.... but wanted it to be a forest, like it is.

So what do you think? The hardest part was the background!

Old Friend 2

 Old Friend 2

Old trucks have always intrigued me. Don't know why?
I don't like driving them..... I just like painting them!
This is my second old truck to paint, the first being
a watercolor many years ago now.
Since I saw this one, delivered and not moved
(very much or far) for a while now,
I have been wanting to paint it. It is part of the
Toogoodoo 365 Series
because it can be found on a property
on the banks of Toogoodoo Creek! Fair game... right?
Old Friend 1 (click here to view) was fun and challenging,
with the light filtering through the trees and the old
glass on the truck. I waited for a day that I had time to paint this one with the same lighting.
I love the old still shiny black with the faded black, rust spots,
sun highlights.... and with the
great sun we had on this day, it helped to make the "black" truck shine in a sea of green in the yard.

Below are photos of my view and set up.

Early Morning Sunrise
6 x6 on Linen Panel
From my Toogooddo 365 Series

The sunrise in June is light pinks and yellow
under and this morning,
there was a canopy of darkness leaving the sky with clouds.
The summer greens are strong and vibrant and the all the colors reflect in the water.
Lowcountry sunrise in the summer!

The creek was at low tide and the afternoon sun was glowing purple in the

Hydrangeas On The Creek Bank

Hydrangeas On The Creek Bank
From the Toogoodoo 365 Series

This hydrangea plant is on the bank of the creek
and is really interesting because it can't decide if it wants to
be a blue or pink. It has pink and blue blooms, some that are both pink and blue and some that are purple.
So in case some of you say... yeah right! Here is the actual
photo of the plant!
