David and his wife, Priscilla spent 3 hard working but FUN days with the Saint Louis Watercolor Society. He is showing his unfinished demo, which we all took our turns at attempting to create using his wet, VERY WET style of painting!
Thanks David for sharing your technique and expertise with us!

We spent a wonderful week in Maine the last week of September! We ate tons of lobster, every day! And the scenery is just beautiful, lightnouses, boats, autumn leaves, lobster!
This is the Pemaquid Lighthouse with a huge expanse of rock/granite spilling into the ocean!
I came home with tons of painting ideas and pictures.

Painting in Hawaii

We had a wonderful trip to the islands of Molokaii and to the big island of Hawaii. I was lucky in that we had planned a lot of "down" time which meant tons of reading, walking on the beach and yes, painting! I was more organized with painting supplies this trip and took a minimal packet and lo and behold, it was my most successful painting time while on a trip! Goes to show you, that I didn't really need all that "stuff"!
I painted several beach scenes and practiced with skies and water and sand...... and on Hawaii, near Kona, this historical cottage was on the beach and was just calling me to paint! I did a couple of plein air versions there and once at home, I took my sketches and made a final one.
This is the Eva Parker Woods cottage on the grounds of the Mauna Lani Resort near Kona.

Does it look like me? Hope so and I noticed that I got my "attitude" on!
Just finished a one week workshop with nationally known artist and teacher, Ted Nuttal.
It was a great week, learned a lot, got brave by putting sloppy dots in places. Sloppy dots are his style to make the his paintings unique. Had lots of fun, worked hard, learned a lot but don't know yet if it will all stick in my brain. Let's hope so as it was an inspiring week!

As April nears and the promise of warmer weather comes, I have been thinking of flowers.
I don't normally paint flowers but I was wanting some fresh and springy items for the upcoming display at the Foundry kiosk for the Saint Louis Watercolor Society. So, here it is.... straight from my garden.... last summer with hopes of renewal!
Come see this painting and others at The Foundry in St Charles in April and May!
