We had a wonderful trip to the islands of Molokaii and to the big island of Hawaii. I was lucky in that we had planned a lot of "down" time which meant tons of reading, walking on the beach and yes, painting! I was more organized with painting supplies this trip and took a minimal packet and lo and behold, it was my most successful painting time while on a trip! Goes to show you, that I didn't really need all that "stuff"!
I painted several beach scenes and practiced with skies and water and sand...... and on Hawaii, near Kona, this historical cottage was on the beach and was just calling me to paint! I did a couple of plein air versions there and once at home, I took my sketches and made a final one.
This is the Eva Parker Woods cottage on the grounds of the Mauna Lani Resort near Kona.
