Wild Flowers in the gallery

Wild Flowers
Acrylic on paper
matted and framed 16 x 20

This new painting started off with watercolors but I was looking for something more.... vibrant, darker, wild..... so I layered some acrylics on top and got a little wild with the paint, adding some here and there, flicking and swiping.... so I stepped back at one point and said.... "done!" Looks like wild flowers!

SOIA Annual Awards Show

"My Just Desserts" floral still life, which won a 2nd place award in 2009 in one of the Society of Independent Artists" show was eligible, along with my "Hallway" painting to be entered into the Annual Awards show AND has won a 4th place award overall!
This painting started out to be as a challenge painting for my painting group and I liked the results enough to enter it into shows and have been rewarded with several awards now.
The floral arrangement was on a table while we had lunch and we moved it to the window so that we could all see each other. And voila! The light through the window on the flowers and jar and water..... just called out "paint me"!

Andes Mountain view from Santiago Chile

This is a painting I did yesterday attempting to complete an aquanet.com challenge, a landscape painting in analogous colors. I used Cerulean Blue and WN Yellow to create my greens.
The scene is from a photo I took several years ago while on a trip to Santiago Chile, it was summer (December) so the wild flowers were abundant and the view with the snow capped mountains in the distance was awesome! Best remembrance of this scene is the world's best empanada I had for lunch while at this spot! Yum!
