SOIA Annual Awards Show

"My Just Desserts" floral still life, which won a 2nd place award in 2009 in one of the Society of Independent Artists" show was eligible, along with my "Hallway" painting to be entered into the Annual Awards show AND has won a 4th place award overall!
This painting started out to be as a challenge painting for my painting group and I liked the results enough to enter it into shows and have been rewarded with several awards now.
The floral arrangement was on a table while we had lunch and we moved it to the window so that we could all see each other. And voila! The light through the window on the flowers and jar and water..... just called out "paint me"!

Yesterday's masterpieces as created by the masters of today!
I am pleased to announce the juried acceptance of my version of Cezanne's "Still Life with Onions" painted in watercolor. I created this painting for the "Remastered" exhibit for Soulard Art Market and Contemporary Gallery. Cezanne painted this in oil and I painted it in watercolors!
"ReMastered" is our chance to re-imagine famous artworks of the past; yesterday's masterpieces. Artists were challenged to create reproductions from these artistic greats in our own unique style. The exhibit is open from November 13th through January 9th with opening receptions on November 13th and 14th from 7 - 10 PM and again on December 11th and 12th.
