Tuesday Painting Ladies!

Tuesday Painting Group. Winter is still keeping us indoors though we can't wait to get outside to paint. We had a full group yesterday though I managed to not get us all in the pictures. We all worked on different masterpieces. Judy, though is having so much fun with a collage class she is taking that she had us mesmerized with her ease and skill of collaging one together quickly!

Andes Mountain view from Santiago Chile

This is a painting I did yesterday attempting to complete an aquanet.com challenge, a landscape painting in analogous colors. I used Cerulean Blue and WN Yellow to create my greens.
The scene is from a photo I took several years ago while on a trip to Santiago Chile, it was summer (December) so the wild flowers were abundant and the view with the snow capped mountains in the distance was awesome! Best remembrance of this scene is the world's best empanada I had for lunch while at this spot! Yum!

CJ Muggs and Saint Louis Watercolor Society "Squares" Exhibit

Squares! Since when are coneflowers square? Well they are when you paint the background with squares and put it in a square mat!

I was so inspired last summer with all the beautiful coneflowers that I had to paint one BUT in my quest to make it a bit different, I decided to paint the background with abstract shapes (squares) instead of sky and other stuff!

Come see this and many more beautiful paintings from fellow artists from the Saint Louis Watercolor Society. "Squares" exhibit on display now at CJ Muggs restaurant in Webster Groves.

Yesterday's masterpieces as created by the masters of today!

I am pleased to announce the juried acceptance of my version of Cezanne's "Still Life with Onions" painted in watercolor. I created this painting for the "Remastered" exhibit for Soulard Art Market and Contemporary Gallery. Cezanne painted this in oil and I painted it in watercolors!

"ReMastered" is our chance to re-imagine famous artworks of the past; yesterday's masterpieces. Artists were challenged to create reproductions from these artistic greats in our own unique style. The exhibit is open from November 13th through January 9th with opening receptions on November 13th and 14th from 7 - 10 PM and again on December 11th and 12th. Please see website for hours and directions!

A Day in the Park! Brrrr......

Yes, it was cold and there wasn't any coffee!
Though we still had a great day out at Tower Grove Park yesterday for a painting session with Carol Jessen.
We worked on composition, painting very wet and being loose, think "air brushing"!  well..... I could go on from here with being loose but most of us are way beyond that! hmmm.... back to the painting.... we all learned, had some fun, Sue is not in the picture cause she took it! And then we went home and had coffee/tea!
Still a great day.
