One evening, after leaving the gallery downtown, the sunset glow on the buildings

was just beautiful! So with my phone, I snapped a photo and knew 

that it would be a painting one day.

This is a large one for me, 24 x 30.  

It took me 2 days just to draw it out! And many more to paint.

Morris Island Lighthouse, Save The Light Gala and Silent Auction — March 29, 2012

It's almost time for the 14th annual Save the Light Gala and Silent Auction. The proceeds benefit the continuing efforts to preserve the Morris Island Lighthouse.

Again this year, the event will be at TIDES Folly Beach (formerly the Holiday Inn), 1 Center Street, on Thursday, March 29th from 6:00 to 9:00PM. Tickets are $ 50.00 each.

This year's theme is “The Mad Hatter” and prizes will be awarded for the most creative and funniest hats.

One of the auction items this year is a Giclee on canvas of my painting, Carriage Ride on Church Street, Charleston. It is 14 x 14 and beautifully framed in a black.

Studio 151/Shelby Lee Fine Art Gallery is conveniently located just south of Market St at the corner of Church St, which makes this gallery a perfect starting and stopping point for the art walk. Be sure to stop by and say hello to our talented artists, which will be on hand to chat with you.

Carriage Ride on Church Street, Charleston SC

A horse drawn carriage takes visitors down Church St in front of St Phillips Church in Charleston SC. This painting allows the viewer to feel like they are going back in time as they learn all about the full history of Charleston. My newest painting Carriage Ride on Church St, Charleston in transparent watercolors BUT even though it is in watercolors, it does not have to be framed under glass! I have finished it up with some special sprays and varnishes so it doesn't have to be framed under glass, just like an oil or acrylic!  No glass required!

The new Studio 151 Fine Arts and Shelby Lee Gallery are off to a fabulous start! As of September 1, 2011, the two galleries joined their creative forces at the 175 Church Street location, which is conveniently located just south of the newly renovated stores on Market Street.  The new cooperative gallery is owned by local artists Colleen Wiessmann, Rosie Phillips, Vicki Gates, Shelby Parbel, Bob Graham, Detta Zimmerman, Peggy Ellis, Ron Chamberlain, Dixie Dugan, Gina Brown, Judy Clark, Beverly Grant, Amelia Whaley, Michael Kennedy and Daryl Knox, some of which were former gallery owners at the Studio 151 Fine Arts, 151 East Bay St and of Waterfront Gallery, 215B E Bay St.  For more information on the artists and the art, visit www.studio151finearts.com

We have moved! Or shall we say..... we are in the process of moving!

Studio 151 Fine Art Gallery has moved out of the 151 East Bay location and the artists are in the process of moving into our new location as we join forces with Shelby Lee Gallery at 175 Church St.

We will be updating the walls at 175 Church St and updating the website and blog soon.We have some new artists and jewelry artists in the house and are excited to show it all to you!

In the mean while, there are some great sales on beautiful art at

175 Church St as we make room for new art on the walls!

Come by and see us. We may not be in final set up mode but we don't mind!
