Perfect Wind For Sailing

May 6, 2015, "Pefect Wind For Sailing"
One of the Toogoodoo 365 series,  5 x 7 canvas panel

Just a perfect wind for sailing a boat like this one! But no sailers today.
I started to paint this from my dock but the wind was so strong that it was hard to paint while holding my pochade box and tripod with one hand. So I had to come in to finish.
Would've been a fine sailing day though!
I took my time with this one and is a studio painting and is framed in 3" gold frame. Ready for the gallery!
For a more impressionistic version done with a palette knife, here is the April 21 painting

Sailer's Delight by Rosie Phillips

 Sailer's Delight
6 x 6
oil on panel

What's the saying?
Red sky in the morning, sailer's warning
Red Sky at night, sailer's delight.

Well, it's not really a red sky but with the bright orangey sunset sky
it reminded me of that saying.
And anyway, wouldn't this be a
"sailer's delight"?
Just to be here?
Would be mine!

A beautiful day in Charleston!
The harbor front is full of sail boats
spinnakers full out
one making a run for it
and some small day sailers in the background
rounding their marks!

Through The Fog

Through The Fog

Oil on canvas
11 x 14

I've been painting boats a lot lately. This one started out like some of the others
BUT sometimes they just take on a life of their own!
As I was painting this sailboat, I envisioned an early morning mist or fog
with sailboats in the background and one beautiful red lady
stepping forward through the fog.
