A horse drawn carriage takes visitors down Church St in front of St Phillips Church in Charleston SC. This painting allows the viewer to feel like they are going back in time as they learn all about the full history of Charleston. My newest painting Carriage Ride on Church St, Charleston in transparent watercolors BUT even though it is in watercolors, it does not have to be framed under glass! I have finished it up with some special sprays and varnishes so it doesn't have to be framed under glass, just like an oil or acrylic! No glass required!

Wine Bottle and Two Pears
Oil 11 x 14 in a gold 16 x 20 frame
Painted in the style of the old masters, my intent was to have a subtly dark "Old World" style painting which would add some warmth to a dining room or kitchen. The warm dark colors make the highlights of the bottle and pears gently glow. Wine Bottle and Two Pears will be on display at our new Studio 151 Gallery location at 175 Chruch St, Charleston. Come on by!

Girl Trip 2011
Pin It
I have been on vacation with my daughter and granddaughters in Florida for the past couple of weeks.
Girl Trip 2011!
Had a great time visiting several beaches, several relatives (including my sis in the picture above), NASA, alligators, boogie boarding and surfing, turtle walks, sunset on Key West, Oceanographic Center, International Swimming Hall of Fame...... shopping, eating.....did I mention beaches? It was a great time to spend with the girls and see some of the family. No more boogie boarding for this granny as I came back with injuries!
Back to reality now. Back to Studio 151 Fine Art Gallery and my studio and art and of course, house under construction and hubby, Bruce! The next couple of weeks will be busy, busy with the location change of Studio 151. We are joining forces with Shelby Lee Art Gallery on Church St, closer to the market downtown. But more on that later!
Just wanted to share my girls with you all for a minute!

Coastal Sunset
Oil, 8 x 11
There is a spot on the Edisto River as we go by on our boat from our home.
These few palm trees hang over the edge with the back ground of land and trees
creating a great coastal view especially as the sun goes down!

Fall Trees
Pin It
This is something a little different from me! But I am liking the bright colors and looseness of this style!
I am working a bit more in acrylics and oils so be on the lookout for some more "different" looks from me. Though watercolor is just so beautiful that it will not go away from my palette!
Also what is different about this piece is that is painted on stretched watercolor paper on canvas stretcher boards and is varnished. It is very freeing to do something like this! I am also experimenting with this technique with watercolor and then spraying with a fixative.
Any thoughts? Too wild? Too so much done? Interesting? More of the same style?

Old Tractor Out To Pasture
Pin It
A couple of years ago, I was driving through the country about 2 hours west of St Louis, MO, right in the middle of the Mid West! We came across some old cars and a couple of tractors out in the fields.
This one really captured me. I zoomed in with my composition in order to get the "guts" of the old tractor with the combination of colors of the rusted reds and yellows.
